We are finally launching our blog! We’re so excited, it’s been on our minds for soooo long. I’m Rocío, co-founder of AWANAY and I will be the one sharing our world with you first hand.
For our first post we wanted to share what inspired our new collection: South Atlantic. A while ago we made a family trip to the Uruguayan coast during winter. I was completely drawn by its landscapes, it’s just the type of nature I love, WILD. Green hill farms by the sea, desert beaches, endless dunes and lonely shores only visited by local fishermen.

The South Atlantic coast is infused with a bucolic sense of wilderness and solitude. Having the chance to see a distant whale and a couple of seals, it made me think of our Patagonic Atlantic coast, 2.000 km to the south in Argentina. That sense of wilderness, rich biodiversity and raw nature caught my heart and imagination. The south portion of our Argentine Sea, which extends approximately from Puerto Madryn to Tierra del Fuego (more or less, academics please don’t kill me) is home to a wide variety of species and it´s most famous for the amazing beaches and oceans inhabited by sea lions, seals, penguins, whales, dolphins among others. If visiting Argentina, I highly recommend visiting this part of Patagonia.

For our new AWANAY rug collection we wanted to introduce stripes since it’s an element I personally love. We approach stripes with the concept of hand-drawn lines, imperfect, slightly off, with a hand painted feeling. Simple, classic but at the same time unique since nor one of them is like the other due to its handmade construction. Stripes, as you may know, are widely use in maritime “stuff”, like in lighthouses, ship flags, maritime gear, and the list goes on. We’re also inspired by outdoor fashion brands like Patagonia and Best Made Co. This rug collection perfectly matches modern and laid back interior design styles and infuses a sense of nature to the overall interior design. Modern, organic, laid back, simple, natural, just what we like.
